Businesses that benefit from Commercial Combined Insurance

A Commercial Combined Insurance policy isn’t just for large companies (although this type of coverage is highly suited to complex businesses with various employees and business operations). It is also useful for smaller enterprises who want to streamline their insurances into one single policy; enabling business owners to simplify admin and in some cases, enjoy lower premiums.

What is Commercial Combined Insurance (Business Insurance)?

This insurance combines various business coverages into one policy, making it easier to manage. This includes protection for property, liability, and business interruption, as well as many additional options which can be designed to suit your industry and operations.

What are the advantages of Commercial Combined Insurance?

Commercial Combined Insurance is a comprehensive policy designed to bring multiple types of business coverage under one roof. One of its greatest strengths is flexibility. A Commercial Combined policy can include property damage, public liability, employers’ liability, business interruption, goods in transit, and more. As a business owner, you can choose the sections relevant to your company operations, meaning coverage is shaped around actual risk rather than a generic, one-size-fits-all policy.

Here are some key benefits of a Commercial Combined policy:

Coverage Gaps

By opting for a Commercial Combined Insurance policy, you can protect your business from gaps in coverage. For example, if you have your Business Insurance split over several separate policies with different insurers, there could potentially be gaps where none of the insurers pick up the loss. There could also be duplication in some coverage, leading to delays in settlement whilst the different insurers negotiate with each other.

Business interruption cover ensures that if operations are disrupted by an insured event such as fire or flood, your policy can cover lost income and ongoing expenses. This can help your business survive unexpected setbacks without devastating financial consequences.

Managing one policy, one renewal date, and one broker can reduce your administrative burden. This is particularly valuable for small and medium-sized enterprises where time and resources are limited.

Public, Products, and Employers’ Liability Insurances can protect businesses from expensive legal claims, whether from customer injuries on premises or employee workplace accidents. Employers’ Liability Insurance is a legal requirement in the UK, if you employ people to work for your business.

Perhaps most importantly, Commercial Combined Insurance can give you the confidence that your assets, income, and legal obligations are covered. That peace of mind allows you to focus on growth rather than worrying whether your business is at financial risk.

What does Commercial Combined Insurance include?

Policies can be tailored to the needs of individual businesses. Cover includes (but is not limited to) protection for:

  • Property Insurance: material damage to buildings, stock, and trade contents
  • Coverage for stock that you deliver or collect (Goods-in-Transit Insurance)
  • Business interruption: can cover cashflow if your business is unable to trade because of an insured risk
  • Public and Products Liability provides cover for damage to third party property or injury to other people (excluding employees) that is deemed to be caused by your negligence. This can also include the legal costs of defending such a claim.

In the context of Employers Liability insurance, “Employee” generally includes workers such as administrative staff, labour-only subcontractors, and volunteers. Insurers usually consider labour-only as employees, and bona-fide subcontractors may need to be clarified on your coverage.

  • Loss of Money: this is different to “loss of profits” as it relates to monies kept on your premises. This cover provides set amounts of cash cover for money at premises and in transit.

What you need to know about Commercial Combined Insurance

When arranging Commercial Combined Insurance, or comparing brokers and insurers, you need to bear in mind a few definitions often used in policy wording:

Covers which may be included

Often, under a Commercial Combined policy, sub limits for under different sections of cover may be included within the policy wording. For example, under material damage, replacement for keys and locks may be included, and, in addition, loss of metred water. A monetary limit usually applies.

Optional added coverages

Optional Covers such as loss or damage due to risks such as Accidental Damage, Subsidence, or Terrorism are usually not included as a standard part of your Commercial Combined Insurance but can be added on.
