In the true spirit of Christmas giving, the team at Lloyd & Whyte Community Broking Swansea joined forces last Christmas, with Faith in Families to help spread festive cheer across Swansea Bay.
Faith in Families and the Cwtch Mawr Project
Team members Neena, Jackie, Sam, and Theresa volunteered their time at Faith in Families, working alongside the Cwtch Mawr project (which means “big hug”) to pack Christmas hampers for local families. Their efforts supported Women’s Aid, ensuring that women and families in need received meaningful help and a touch of joy during the festive season.
The initiative forms part of Lloyd & Whyte Community Broking Swansea’s ongoing commitment to supporting local communities and charities. For the team, lending a hand during the holidays was more than an act of kindness, it was a chance to live out their purpose of giving back and strengthening community connections.
Supporting families in the heart of Swansea
Faith in Families is a remarkable charity that has been transforming lives across the Swansea Bay area since its establishment in 1999. Through its Community Cwtches and Multibank, the organisation provides vital support to children and families facing challenges such as poverty, crisis, and trauma.
Their services include parent and toddler groups, 1-2-1 child therapy, parental and child support, outreach, and home support. These programmes give vulnerable families the practical help and emotional guidance they need to overcome hardship and build brighter futures.
Over the years, Faith in Families has expanded to operate three community cwtches across Swansea. Each centre is based in an area of deprivation and provides a safe, supportive environment for families to find help, friendship, and hope.
The charity also runs Wales’ first Multibank, a community donations hub and vital resource offering essentials such as food, clothing, and household goods to those struggling to make ends meet. Working in partnership with local businesses, the Multibank embodies the power of community collaboration in tackling poverty head-on. The products are distributed through Faith in Families, the lead charity partner, who works with local charity groups and care professionals to ensure items reach those in need, exactly when they need them.
Swansea Women’s aid
This charity was also supported. It is all about empowerment, safety and support for women and children experiencing domestic abuse. Women’s Aid provide secure temporary accommodation for women and children escaping domestic abuse. They also offer tailored support services and workshops and drop-in services as safe spaces to learn, connect and heal.
Giving back this Christmas
The atmosphere at Faith in Families was filled with warmth and teamwork as volunteers from Lloyd & Whyte Community Broking Swansea joined the Cwtch Mawr project to pack and distribute festive hampers.
These hampers contained essential items, gifts, and treats that would bring comfort and joy to families facing a difficult winter. For the volunteers, it was a reminder of how small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
