Getting Down & Dirty for Charity
The team at Lloyd & Whyte Community Broking Swansea continues to demonstrate its strong community spirit and dedication to meaningful causes. In July 2023, two determined colleagues, Jackie Clement and Keri Lugiano, took part in the Swansea Pretty Muddy 5K 2023, tackling mud and obstacles to raise £197 in support of Cancer Research UK.
The Pretty Muddy® event, part of the Race for Life Swansea event series, is unlike a typical charity run. It challenges participants to climb, crawl, and slide their way through a course designed to get everyone out of their comfort zone – and covered in mud! For Jackie and Keri, this wasn’t just about fun and fitness; it was about fundraising and community connection.
As proud representatives of Lloyd & Whyte Community Broking Swansea, the duo took on the event to raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK, to support life-changing research that helps millions of people affected by cancer. The atmosphere on the day was one of excitement, camaraderie, and shared purpose. Hundreds of participants joined in, all with the same goal – to make a difference and to honour those affected by cancer.
For Jackie, the event carried an additional layer of personal meaning. Alongside raising money for Cancer Research UK, she also supported Macmillan Cancer, a charity close to her heart. Having seen the invaluable support that Macmillan provides to patients and families, Jackie felt inspired to give back and help others receive the same care and compassion during difficult times.
Jackie said, “It was a good fun experience – muddy and challenging in parts – and a great cause for charity.” Keri Lugiano added, “It was fun and very muddy and messy… a fantastic day and enjoyable.”
Their efforts are a shining example of the Lloyd & Whyte Community Broking Swansea commitment to community engagement and charity support. The company has long encouraged staff to take part in charitable activities and fundraising events, recognising that giving back is at the heart of its values.
