Making a Positive Difference in Llanelli

As part of our commitment to making a positive difference within the community, Lloyd & Whyte Community Broking Llanelli has donated the huge sum of £9861.61 to Foothold Cymru, a charity based in West Wales.

From training young people in life skills and finding employment, to supporting local communities with their Community Food Store and Clothes & Uniform Exchange, Foothold Cymru is focused on addressing the needs of the West Wales community and bringing about meaningful change. With the cost of living crisis and rising food prices, Foothold Cymru is an important part of the community, having helped over 2,000 individuals access the organisation’s food bank and food delivery service.¹

But the cost of living crises has meant many charities need more support than ever before. In response to the growing need for help around resources, and basics such as food and clothes, our Llanelli team started their mission to raise money for this amazing organisation.

Lloyd & Whyte Community Broking Managing Director Paul Short, along with Jonathan Williams and Ryan Williams, ran the Llanelli half marathon on 24th September 2023 and raised an impressive £4,610!

In addition, our Llanelli team were busy throughout the whole of 2023, holding monthly cake and bake sales, organising ‘Dress Down Fridays’, and making food parcels for Foothold Cymru to give to the community. The Llanelli team donated clothes to the charity’s Clothes & Uniform Exchange, and even helped build the greenhouses in which the food store’s produce was grown and then distributed amongst individuals and families.

Our Llanelli team also nominated Foothold Cymru for an AVIVA grant, with the team hoping for a £1,000 donation. Instead, they received a huge grant of £5,000 from AVIVA – exceeding all expectations – and making a massive contribution of £9,861.61 which was presented to Foothold Cymru in May of 2024.
