Supporting mental health in our community: Lloyd & Whyte Community Broking Swansea donates to The 4N;cky Foundation

At Lloyd & Whyte Community Broking Swansea, supporting our community and promoting wellbeing are values at the heart of everything we do. Following the success of our Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge, our team was delighted to continue fundraising for the #4N;cky Foundation with a local charity evening that brought people together for a night of music, connection, and purpose.

A Night of Music and Meaning

Earlier this autumn, Neena and Anthony had the pleasure of presenting a £500 cheque to the #4N;cky Foundation, with funds raised during a special evening featuring Ian Bateman’s much loved charity rock & roll band, The Gower Tones. The event took place at The Hub in the Mumbles, a vibrant community space located in Underhill Parka venue well-loved by locals for its cricket, football, and rugby facilities.

The Hub has become a true centre for community life in Mumbles and the surrounding area, making it the perfect place to celebrate teamwork, resilience, and giving back. The night was more than just a gig, it was an opportunity to reunite, reflect, and raise funds for a cause that means a great deal to many of us.

The funds raised were match funded by The Benefact Group taking the initial £250 total up to the £500 final amount. The Benefact Group Matched Giving (also called match funding) matches employee fundraising efforts at a 100% rate, doubling every penny raised up to a limit of £5,000 per event. This policy applies to various fundraising activities, from marathons to bake sales, allowing employees to maximise the rewards of their fundraising efforts.

Reuniting after the 3 Peaks Challenge

The event doubled as a reunion for our Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge walkers, who had earlier completed the gruelling 24-mile trek across Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough to raise money and awareness for the same foundation. The challenge had already brought together colleagues, friends, family, and clients from Lloyd & Whyte Community Broking Swansea, many of whom joined again to celebrate their achievement while continuing to support mental health initiatives.

It was a fantastic evening of live music, laughter, and shared memories, with entry tickets sold to raise additional funds for charity. The energy and generosity in the room reflected what community spirit is all about – people coming together to make a difference.

The 4N;cky Foundation: A legacy of hope and awareness

The 4N;cky Foundation was founded in memory of Nicky Bevan, who tragically lost his life to suicide in December 2022 at just 20 years old. Created by his family and friends, the foundation is dedicated to raising awareness about mental health, offering support to those who are struggling, and encouraging open, stigma-free conversations around wellbeing.

Their message is simple yet powerful: mental health is just as important as physical health. The foundation’s work focuses on education, prevention, and creating safe spaces where people can talk and seek help without fear of judgment.

At Lloyd & Whyte, this mission deeply resonates with our values and our commitment to community wellbeing. Supporting the 4N;cky Foundation allows us to play a small part in helping to foster understanding, compassion, and hope.

A place to reflect and remember

In addition to fundraising, the team at Lloyd & Whyte Community Broking Swansea also wanted to create a lasting tribute to Nicky’s memory and the foundation’s positive impact. A bench with a commemorative plaque has been placed by the lakeside at Fendrod Lake in Llansamlet, just across from our Swansea office.

Fendrod Lake occupies 13 acres within the heart of the Swansea Enterprise Park and provides a peaceful, scenic space for walking, reflection, and relaxation. The bench serves as a place for anyone to pause, reflect, and connect, with nature, with their thoughts, or with others. It symbolises the ongoing journey of promoting mental wellbeing and supporting one another as a community.

Continuing our commitment

At Lloyd & Whyte Community Broking Swansea, we are incredibly proud to support the 4N;cky Foundation and the vital work they do to promote mental health awareness and resilience in our community. Meeting the team and hearing their story has been both humbling and inspiring.

“It’s a privilege to support a foundation that’s doing so much good for mental health in our community,” said Neena. “The energy and passion they bring to everything they do are truly inspiring.”

Through initiatives like the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge, local fundraising events, and continued community engagement, our team remains committed to supporting causes that make a difference. Together, we can help break the stigma around mental health and keep conversations, and compassion, flowing.
