In May 2025, the Lloyd & Whyte Community Broking Swansea team completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. Located in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the Three Peaks Challenge is a 24-mile walk which includes 1585 metres of ascent. Our team’s fundraising walk raised an impressive £2804 which was fund-matched by the Benefact Group – our parent company. The journey covered Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough, and they completed the challenge within 12 hours!
Money generated by the Lloyd & Whyte Community Broking fundraiser was awarded to the 4N;cky Foundation, a Welsh charity that supports local mental health and child loss charities. The Foundation was set up in memory of Nicky who sadly lost his life to suicide at the age of 20. He was funny, beautiful, hardworking, and an amazing drummer. The aim of the 4N;cky Foundation is to promote awareness, break the stigma around mental health, and raise funds to help with wellbeing in the community.
Breaking the Stigma
One of the biggest barriers to improving mental health outcomes is stigma. Fundraising initiatives such as charity walks, sponsored challenges, or awareness campaigns not only raise money but also create vital conversations. When people come together to support mental health causes, they signal that mental wellbeing is as important as physical health. This visibility helps normalise the conversation, encouraging more people to seek help without fear of judgment.

“Taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks was no easy feat, but doing it for The 4N;cky Foundation gave every mile a deeper meaning. From the first climb up Pen-y-Ghent to the final steps down Ingleborough, our team faced mud, rain, wind, and aching legs – but also plenty of laughs, encouragement, and stunning scenery. It was a day of resilience, unity, and purpose, and we’re proud to have walked it in support of such an important cause.”

This is incredible, we are so grateful to each and every one of you. Because of people like you we are able to hold sessions for young people, man time only, alternative therapy, fund a therapy dog and therapist in the local area to help children struggling in schools, plus provide counselling for people struggling with their mental health and wellbeing initiatives in the local area.
Our charity walk in Yorkshire brought together many different business people including Redkite Solicitors, a local Swansea law firm expertly combining legal support for the Swansea community, supported by the big business backing of 16 solicitors’ offices across the UK. Katherine Simpson, Partner at Redkite Solicitors, was our contact at this firm, helping out with raising funds for the 4N;cky Foundation.
Alongside Katherine, a wide range of businesses in and around the Swansea area donated sponsorship funds for our Community Broking team’s mission. These included Philip Williams at Swansea-based Moose Financial Services specialising in mortgage and protection advice; Liam Capener-Jones at Swansea storage company: Loc It and Leave It; Alex & Christian Diiulio at Nonna Assunta Liqueurs and Jackie Fagan-Fox at Apex Foot & Skin.

For the Swansea Community Broking team, the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge became more than just a walk; it was a way to honour Nicky’s legacy while raising crucial funds to support the charity’s work. We pushed ourselves through long climbs, unpredictable weather, and testing terrain, motivated by the knowledge that our efforts would directly benefit people through education, mental health support, and community opportunities.
